Milk Was a Bad Choice

09 May

It’s over 80 F for the second day in a row, and I think I’m going to have to adjust my running schedule to go later at night (lest I break my continued ‘run every day’ streak). This heat kills me, and it’s not even that hot yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to best get used to exercising in hot weather? How hot is too hot?

Here’s my random list of things I do, that aren’t intended to help with the heat, but I bet they do… I’m just lucky that way….

    1) Rarely run in the daytime- I used to always run at night. Now I work from home on a flexible schedule so I can run in the day… and it’s hot.

    2) Take water with me – On any run longer than 5 miles I take water/fluids with me. Actually Nuun is my hydration product of choice… it’s carb/calorie free electrolytes.

    3) Wear “compression style” tri-shorts – Me, I get chaffing on my legs if I don’t wear compression shorts. I pretty much only workout wearing triathlon shorts. I ride my bike in them, I run in them, I even lift weights in them.

Other than that… I just deal… like you say in your category heading “No Easy Days”.
