Great question! 🙂
I have to admit to being less of a Thundercat fan (in the interest of full disclosure), but I really do think G.I. Joe has the edge. I mean, first of all they’ve got sheer numbers. Secondly, Lion-O just never struck me as being all that clever (or fearsome). So that’s where my vote would go.
That being said, I have a caveat: Once you pull out the Sword of Omens and start working with magic and mystical beings (e.g., Jaga), it’s a closer fight than I’d be willing to bet on.
And lest you think me a complete nerd, I had to look up “Jaga” and the “Sword of Omens”… it’s been a VERY long time!

Well, you’ve got to include the Sword of Omens and magic. I mean, without that stuff the Thundercats are just a bunch of cat-people, right? (Actually, I’m sure there are episodes of Thundercats that show the good-guys working though tough spots with their abilities hampered for some reason or another).
